How to Change the Knowledge Base Title, Tagline and Logo

How to Change the Knowledge Base Title, Tagline and Logo

SoftwareRoad Knowledge Base lets you change the title, short description and logo shown on your main knowledge base page.

These settings help the knowledge base match the rest of your website and make it clear what visitors can find there.

Open the General settings

To change the title, tagline or logo:

  1. Sign in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Open Knowledge Base > Settings.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Select Save Changes.

You can use Preview Knowledge Base to open the main page and check how the new wording or logo looks.

Change the knowledge base title

The knowledge base title is the main heading shown near the top of the page.

To change it:

  1. Open Knowledge Base > Settings > General.
  2. Find Knowledge Base Title.
  3. Enter the title you want to display.
  4. Select Save Changes.

Examples include:

  • How can we help?
  • Knowledge Base
  • Help Centre
  • Product Documentation
  • Support and Guides
  • Find the Answer You Need

Keep the title fairly short so it remains easy to read on mobile devices.

Choosing a good title

The best title depends on how the knowledge base is being used.

For customer support, you could use:

How can we help?

For product documentation:

SoftwareRoad Knowledge Base

For technical guides:

Documentation and Support

For a general resource area:

Help Centre

Try to choose wording visitors will immediately understand.

Avoid unclear slogans that do not explain the purpose of the page.

Change the tagline

The tagline appears underneath the main title and gives visitors a little more information.

To change it:

  1. Open Knowledge Base > Settings > General.
  2. Find the tagline field.
  3. Enter a short description.
  4. Select Save Changes.

A useful tagline might be:

Search our guides, documentation and troubleshooting articles.

Other examples include:

  • Find answers, setup guides and useful product information.
  • Browse our documentation or search for the help you need.
  • Learn how to install, configure and use our products.
  • Search our support articles and step-by-step guides.

Keep it to one short sentence where possible.

Writing a useful tagline

The tagline should tell visitors what they can do on the page.

It can mention:

  • Searching for answers
  • Browsing documentation
  • Finding setup instructions
  • Reading troubleshooting guides
  • Learning how to use a product

Avoid making it too long or adding several sentences. The main knowledge base page should lead visitors quickly towards the search box and categories.

You can upload a logo or image to display as part of the knowledge base design.

To add one:

  1. Open Knowledge Base > Settings > General.
  2. Find the Knowledge Base Logo option.
  3. Select the upload or choose image button.
  4. Choose an image from the WordPress Media Library or upload a new one.
  5. Confirm the image.
  6. Select Save Changes.

Open the knowledge base page afterwards and check the result.

You can use:

  • Your main business logo
  • A product logo
  • A help centre icon
  • A separate knowledge base logo
  • A simple branded graphic

The image should be clear and easy to recognise.

A transparent PNG or WebP file often works well because it can sit cleanly over different background colours.

Keep the logo file size small

Large images can slow down the knowledge base page.

Before uploading the logo:

  • Crop away unnecessary space
  • Resize it to a sensible size
  • Compress the image
  • Use PNG or WebP where appropriate
  • Avoid uploading a full-size print version

The logo only needs to be large enough to stay sharp at the size shown on the page.

Check the logo background

A logo with dark text may be difficult to see on a dark knowledge base background.

A white logo may disappear on a light background.

Before choosing the final version, check it against the background colour or image used in the knowledge base header.

You may need separate light and dark versions of your logo depending on the design.

When uploading the logo through the Media Library, add useful alternative text.

For example:

SoftwareRoad Knowledge Base logo

Alternative text helps visitors using screen readers and provides a description if the image cannot load.

Avoid filling the alternative text with repeated keywords.

To remove the current logo:

  1. Open Knowledge Base > Settings > General.
  2. Find the saved logo.
  3. Select the remove or clear option.
  4. Select Save Changes.

The title and tagline can still be displayed without a logo.

Removing the logo from the settings does not necessarily delete the image from the WordPress Media Library.

To use a different image:

  1. Open the General settings.
  2. Select the current logo or the choose image button.
  3. Choose or upload the replacement.
  4. Confirm the image.
  5. Select Save Changes.

Clear your website cache if the old logo continues to appear.

Should the knowledge base use the same logo as the website?

It can, but it does not have to.

Using the main website logo gives the knowledge base a consistent look.

A separate product or documentation logo may make more sense when:

  • The website contains several products
  • The knowledge base has its own branding
  • The documentation is for one specific service
  • The main business logo is too wide for the layout

Choose whichever option makes the page easiest to recognise.

Preview your changes

After saving the settings, select Preview Knowledge Base or open your main knowledge base page.

Check that:

  • The title is easy to read
  • The tagline is not too long
  • The logo is clear
  • The logo is not stretched
  • The spacing looks balanced
  • The search box still has enough room
  • The design works on mobile

You may need to shorten the title or tagline if the top area feels crowded.

The title is not changing

If the old title still appears:

  1. Check that you selected Save Changes.
  2. Clear your WordPress cache.
  3. Clear any server or hosting cache.
  4. Refresh the browser.
  5. Confirm that you are viewing the correct knowledge base page.

You can also open the page in a private browser window to avoid seeing an older cached version.

The tagline is missing

If the tagline does not appear, check that:

  • Text has been entered in the tagline field
  • The settings were saved
  • The tagline is enabled in the current layout
  • The text colour is not matching the background
  • The website cache has been cleared

Try entering a short test sentence and saving again.

The logo is not showing

If the logo is missing:

  • Check that the image was selected correctly
  • Confirm that it still exists in the Media Library
  • Open the image URL to make sure it loads
  • Save the settings again
  • Clear the website cache
  • Try uploading a fresh copy

Also check that the image is not transparent or the same colour as the background.

The logo looks blurry

A blurry logo usually means the original image is too small or heavily compressed.

Upload a clearer version with enough resolution for the displayed size.

Vector-style logos exported as PNG or WebP normally stay clearer than small screenshots or heavily compressed JPG files.

The logo looks stretched

A stretched logo may have unusual dimensions or may contain too much empty space.

Try:

  • Uploading a better-proportioned version
  • Cropping empty space
  • Keeping the original aspect ratio
  • Using a transparent PNG or WebP
  • Avoiding a very tall or very wide image

Check the result on both desktop and mobile.

The title or tagline is difficult to read

If the text blends into the background, open:

Knowledge Base > Settings > Design

Review the text and background colours.

If you are using a background image, make sure there is enough contrast behind the title and tagline.

A darker overlay can help light text remain readable over a photograph.

Keep the wording up to date

Review the title and tagline if the purpose of the knowledge base changes.

For example, a page originally used only for product documentation may later include support, billing and troubleshooting guides.

Updating the tagline helps visitors understand the wider range of information available.

Title, tagline and logo checklist

Before finishing, check that:

  • The title clearly explains the page
  • The tagline tells visitors what they can find
  • The wording is short enough for mobile
  • The logo matches the website or product
  • The image is compressed
  • Alternative text has been added
  • The logo is easy to see against the background
  • The page looks balanced on desktop and mobile
  • The changes have been saved

Your knowledge base header now has the correct title, description and branding.
